Titchfield Abbey

Originally the Abbey was home to a community of Premonstratensian canons (like monks) after it was constructed in the 13th century. The most impressive feature of the abbey today is a grand turreted gatehouse, which was built across the nave of the church.

The abbey is open daily from 10am-5pm between April and September; and 10am-4pm between October and March.

The Emirates Spinnaker Tower

Taller than the London Eye!? Absolutely, The Emirates Spinnaker Tower stretches a full 170 meters above Portsmouth Harbour and the Solent. This is a full 35 metres taller than the London Eye. In fact The Emirates Spinnaker Tower is taller than Big Ben and has already established itself as a national icon for Britain.

Holly Hill Woodland Park

Holly Hill Woodland Park is a historic parkland covering some 35 hectares. It is in south Hampshire and stretches from Barnes Lane, Sarisbury Green to the River Hamble.

The best known of Fareham’s park, Holly Hill Woodland Park was designed as an estate park and arboretum. This is the perfect place to see the resident wildfowl and to enjoy trees and shrubs from around the world.
Awarded The Green Flag award for its quality, the park’s landscape features have been developing since the 1870’s. This includes extensive lakes with islands and waterfalls, and some fine examples of Pulhamite Stonework that create the dams and even an elaborate fern grotto.

Southampton Town Walls

Southampton boasts some of the most complete medieval town walls in the country. The construction of the walls was carried out over a lengthy period over about 300 years. The walls served as protection and refuge from outside enemies. The walls have stood the test of time. Today this amazing medieval wonder can be enjoyed by the whole family.

Starting the walk at the Bargate, the historic entrance to the medieval town, the Old Town has over 90 listed buildings and more than 30 ancient monuments. Explore the medieval wine vaults and an array of medieval churches with fine Georgian houses and hotels.

Sailing is a local attraction to Coldeast Mansion

Sailing

Flowing through the heart of Southampton is the Solent. This is the stretch of water between the mainland and the Isle of Wight. This magnificent location is one of the most renowned sailing and shipping destinations of the UK.

Once called the ‘Gateway to the World’, the port of Southampton is a popular base for some of the world’s largest ships and cruise liners. Most notoriously, Southampton was the second port where The Titanic rested for 6 days before setting course on its maiden voyage.

Every year there are plenty of sailing events to enjoy. Whether you are a professional or spectator, Southampton is home to some the world’s top sailing races held there every year.

New Forest Walking

The New Forest in Southampton is one of the most scenic destinations with plenty to enjoy. Whether you want to explore the forest at a leisurely pace or if you are feeling more adventurous, The New Forest has it all. There is a wide selection or routes to choose from, including some which are more accessible for those of you that might require walking assistance. There are thousands of acres to be explored.

In the winter months, some of the Forestry Commission car parks close in order to reduce wear and tear, and in the spring/summer months some of them close if close to areas where sensitive breeding birds are known to nest. Great fun for the whole family.
